Prisoners’ kids celebrate Raja festival

Bhubaneswar: Children of prisoners of 21 jails across the State here on Saturday observed Raja festival with much fanfare. Hosted by the Odisha Patita Udhar Samiti, the children wearing new clothes played doli and ate various types of pithas and paan at the Jharpada Special Jail.
 
Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, BMC Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, KIIT founder Achyuta Samant among many dignitaries attended the event and praised the initiatives of the Samiti.  

“We enjoyed the day a lot. We played various games such as kaudi and cards as well as outdoor games such as puchhi, skipping the rope and, of course, swinging on the doli,” said oen of the children.

On the occasion KIIT founder Achyuta Samant said two children from the Odisha Patita Udhar Samiti after completing their Matriculation will be provided free ITI teaching at his institute annually.

The programme was organised under the direct supervision of Samiti Secretary Abharani Choudhury.
