District Collector Pramod Das convened a meeting to discuss the implementation procedures wherein Regional Transport Officer Amresh Patra, Additional SP Santosh Nayak, Sub-Collector Ramchandra Palta, fuel outlet owners and intellectuals were present.

The Collector stated that since a lot of fatal accidents occur due to absence of helmets; so, such mishaps could be contained by putting on headgears.

“Awareness campaigns will be conducted to make people aware about the rule from August 1 to 15,” said Das.

As per the rule, petrol won’t be given to the bikers without helmets and further action would be initiated against the petrol pump owner if they flout the rule, he added.

Instructions have been given to the enforcement wing of the MVD to strictly implement the directive and book the offenders.
