250 entrepreneurs, 50 Startups participate in MSME Trade Fair

Bhubaneswar, Mar 5: More than 250 entrepreneurs of the micro small medium enterprises (MSME) sector and 50 Startups are participating in the MSME Trade Fair and Entrepreneurship Week-2017 being held at the Exhibition Ground here.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the programme on Sunday. This year, separate hangers have been kept for the exporters and women entrepreneurs.

On the occasion, Patnaik advised IDCO to reserve land for MSMEs in all of its industrial estates and develop a land bank exclusively for MSMEs at important growth centres of the state. Further, he asked the Single Window Committees to ensure that MSMEs are provided the same facilitation and the ease of approvals as they have been doing for the large industries.

The CM expressed happiness on the fact that altogether more than 2.5 lakh MSME enterprises have been established in the State with a cumulative investment of more than Rs 12,000 crore and employment to over 11 lakh persons. He added that total 251 projects worth Rs 661 crore have been approved by the District Level Single Window Committees since April 2015.

Patnaik said the budget provision of the MSME Department for the coming financial year has been increased by more than 48 per cent vis-a-vis the budget provision of the last year.

The Chief Minister indicated that the development of ancillary and downstream industries with the help of Central and State PSUs should be accorded priority.

The CM also felicitated 20 boys and girls, who have won the Youth Innovation Award. Whereas, four of them were awarded Rs 1 lakh each for developing proto-types, the remaining 16 youths were awarded  Rs 50,000 each for working on an innovative idea.

Chairman, Odisha Skill Development Authority Subrato Bagchi and Principal Secretary, MSME LN Gupta attended the event.
