OPTCL on a ‘Power for All’ mission

Bhubaneswar, August 24, 2017: A new batch of 150 young technical professionals joined Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) on Thursday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik handed over appointment letters to them in a function here and urged them to work with dedication for realising our mission ‘Power for All’.

“Since 2010, over 1,581 professionals have joined it. It has reflected positively on its performance as it achieved transmission system availability for 99.96% and for which the State utility has been awarded by the Union Ministry of Power. It is shouldering effectively the responsibility of implementing various state-funded programmes,” said Patnaik.

By 2022, power consumption in Odisha is projected to rise to 30 million units, said Patnaik.

“OPTCL is geared up to meet the requirements of uninterrupted quality power supply. It will add 57 new grids to its network by 2022,” added the CM.

The Chief Minister also launched the rooftop solar project at Jayadev Bhawan, which becomes the first Government building in Odisha to do so. The rooftop solar project will be implemented in Government buildings across 15 cities and towns of the State.
