Once completed, it will fulfill a long-standing need of best quality healthcare for the people of Kalahandi and adjoining districts.

The MoU for construction of the project was signed by State Health and Family Welfare Department and Vedanta Limited in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The proposed 100-seat medical college and 500-bed hospital will go a long way in ensuring quality healthcare for the people of Kalahandi and adjoining districts.

The medical college in the interiors is a testimony to our constant efforts to provide affordable and comprehensive healthcare services to the people at their doorsteps in every part of Odisha.

“The Government is setting up nine new medical colleges and hospitals, spread across the districts to cover every region with quality healthcare facilities so that people do not have to travel to the big cities for tertiary care. The medical colleges will also go a long way in resolving the issue of shortage of doctors in the State,” said CM Naveen Patnaik.

The CM directed the Health and Family Welfare Department to expedite the works and ensure timely operationalisation of the medical college.
