Sony Network pulls channels off Ortel Communications in Odisha for non-payment of dues

Bhubaneswar, June 10, 2018: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), India’s leading media conglomerate, has switched off its broadcast signals to Odisha’s Ortel Communications, owing to non-payment of financial dues. 

With SPN’s popular channels like Sony Entertainment Television (SET), Sony SAB, Sony PAL, Sony MAX, Sony SIX, Sony TEN, Sony BBC Earth and more being the staple entertainment diet for most consumers, this move is likely to affect more than three lakh households across Odisha.

With the action heating up on SPN with Salman Khan’s Dus Ka Dum airing from June 4 and the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia starting June 14, viewers in Odisha are sure to miss out on some great entertainment and sporting action in the coming months.

Sony Pictures Networks Distribution (SPND) switched off its signals to Ortel Communications, Odisha following discrepancies over huge outstanding dues and non-signing of the distribution contract. SPN viewers in Odisha are requested to switch to other reliable cable operators to view their favourite channels to stay entertained and tuned in to their favorite shows in the months to follow, read a SPN press release.
