Wayside Amenities Centres to boost tourism in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, July 31, 2018: As a boost to tourism infrastructure in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday dedicated as many as 34 Wayside Amenities Centres to the people.

The 34 Wayside Amenities Centres were spread across the State. At least 16 more will be completed soon. Each amenity centre was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.10 crore by the Works Department along National Highways, State Highways and other major junctions across the State.

Facilities like parking, toilet, drinking water and cafeteria available at these centres which will be immensely beneficial to tourists, women and differently abled travellers, said Patnaik while dedicating the projects through videoconferencing.

Similar centres at tourist destinations and key roads across the State will be developed soon.

Chief Minister Patnaik directed officials to expedite work on the remaining WACs and tasked Works Department with the maintenance of new centres.

“Our Wayside Amenities have many facilities like parking space, cafeterias, restrooms and drinking water for travellers and tourists. These are designed for the convenience of tourists, women and differently-abled travellers. These amenities will provide the much needed facelift to Odisha Tourism,” said Patnaik.
