Odisha gets country’s first Skill Museum


Cuttack, August 4, 2018: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday dedicated the Skill Museum at Government ITI, Cuttack to the youth of Odisha. The Skill Museum is first of its kind in the country. 

Different varieties of skill bases machineries, innovations, sculptures and equipments have been displayed in the museum. The museum, spread over 2,600 square feet, aims to provide information about different skills to students and inspires them to think differently.

“Skill Museum, connecting old skills to new for future, will take ITI to a new horizon,” said Patnaik after inaugurating the museum.

He commended efforts undertaken by Odisha Skill Development Authority to shape ‘Mission Skilled In Odisha’ in to a global phenomenon, with recent partnership with ITE Singapore, one of the most distinguished vocational education institutions in Asia.

ITI Cuttack has not only been imparting domain skills, but also life skills and has produced many skilled professionals over last 60 years

“Skilled in Odisha is not just inculcating ‘domain skills’ in youth but teaching ‘life skills’. As skilled professionals, it’s time to inculcate ‘design thinking’ in minds to foresee future technological needs,” said Patnaik.

He said successful partnership with ITE Singapore has given the vocational education in the state a global platform. Our Sudakhya Yojana has further encouraged girls towards opting for technical education. Soon ‘Skill Museum’ initiative will be replicated in ITIs in districts across the State, the CM announced.
